Early Life
I was born in Burlingame, California in June of 2003. I grew up in Union City, CA for my elementary school years. I was into every subject at the school, especially music. After graduation, my family and I moved to Novato, CA to start middle school.
There I began to develop my passion for history, science, and music. Later in middle school I began appreciating geography and computer science. Because of these passions, I entered the Geography and History Bees in 8th grade. During 8th grade, I learned about STEM and applied. I was accepted and began my STEM Marin career. |
Music
In elementary school I learned how to play the recorder. During one of the school concerts, I soloed on my recorder playing "Greensleeves". It was a great feeling being able to hear the audience clap for me, and got me hooked on performing on stage ever since.
Ever since then, I've learned how to play trombone, drums, ukulele, and a little bit of bass and piano. In middle school, I was in the advanced jazz band and helped tutor younger kids on trombone. In high school, I've participated in the advanced honors jazz band, the pit orchestra, the jazz combo, and the rock band program. I was the drummer in a band called Wesley and the Finks and we became popular after our performance of "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" (see Other Projects). The band has broken up since then, but I now part of a rock band called the Ford Mustangs. In terms of music taste, I like listening to a diverse playlist. I am always willing to listen to new songs and check out other genres and artists. |
Social Studies
I'm a big fan of the humanities. Ever since elementary, I have loved history, whether it's ancient or contemporary. I find it very interesting to learn about events from all around world. I entered the 2017 History Bee and made it to the regional finals. I succeeded and made it through into the national finals in Atlanta, GA.
I'm a big geography fan as well. I like to look at a map every once and a while and just appreciate how diverse Earth truly is. I love to travel and have been to New York, New Orleans, Honolulu, and many other places. I want to go to Europe at some point and see as much as I can! |
STEMScience, technology, engineering, and mathematics are some of my favorite passions (hence why I'm in STEM). I'm a big fan of studying physics and chemistry; the laws of the universe and the natural world make me curious, and learning these sciences can bring me closer to the planet.
I'm an avid computer user with a little experience in programming and 3D modelling. My interest in engineering was probably sparked early on when I was a kid since I loved LEGO when I was younger. I want to be an electrical or electronic engineer when I grow up and hope to go to UC Davis or Berkeley. I participate in the school's robotics program (Team 2551) and work on the build and electrical team. I also help repair chromebooks with the IT department as well. |
Hobbies and Other Interests
I enjoyed doing Tae Kwon Do. I am a 2nd degree black belt and did it for about 10 years. I run on cross country team and sprint and jump on the track team. I also participate in the school's debate team, reached varsity level, and won two trophies in my first year.
I usually watch movies and TV shows on Netflix in my free time. "The Office" and "Breaking Bad" are two of my all-time favorite TV shows, and movies like "Goodfellas", "Inception", and "Forrest Gump" are some of my favorites. There is always so much to watch! I play some video games on my free time and like chatting with my friends. I try to stay "well-rounded" and do as much as I can because life is fun! |
